Magdiwang members returned to Tejeros on March 23, 1897 and drafted the Acta de Tejeros in protest of the Tejeros Convention (effectively an election protest).
Bonifacio together with Forty-Four (44) members of Magdiwang, which included Artemio Ricarte, signed the document (Acta de Tejeros).
Artemio Ricarte was also present at the oathtaking of elected officials at the Tejeros Convention on March 23, 1897 in Tanza Convent. Ricarte took an oath as Captain General of the army and excused himself after the ceremonies allegedly due to a "headache." However, it was discovered that Ricarte proceeded to San Francisco de Malabon where he joined the forces of Bonifacio. PM Virata
